Cookie Policy

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. When you return, the browser sends that file back, which lets the site recognise the session and remember settings. Cookies set by the site you are visiting are called first party cookies. Cookies set by another domain whose content appears on the page are called third party cookies.

Similar technologies do comparable jobs by different means, and this policy treats them the same way:

• Local storage and session storage, which hold small amounts of data in the browser rather than sending it back with every request
• Pixels and tracking images, tiny image requests that record that a page or an email was opened
• Software development kits and scripts embedded in a page, for example a map or a video player
• Server logs, which record the request your browser made even when no cookie is involved

Cookies last either for the session, meaning they disappear when you close the browser, or for a set period, meaning they persist until they expire or you clear them.

We keep the number of technologies on this site deliberately small. The ones we do use exist for four reasons: to make the pages and the contact form work, to protect those forms from automated abuse, to remember a preference you have expressed during a visit, and to understand in aggregate which pages help people decide whether solar, storage, a generator or electrical work is right for their property.

We do not need to know who you are to do any of that. Analytics tells us that a page was read, not that you read it. When you actually want to hear from us, you tell us who you are by filling in the contact form, and our privacy policy governs what happens next.

Strictly necessary

These make the site function. They handle page routing, keep a form submission attached to the right session, balance traffic across servers, remember that you dismissed a notice for the rest of the visit, and help block automated submissions to our contact form. They cannot be switched off through this site because the pages would stop working correctly, though your browser can still block them.

Performance and analytics

These count visits, page views, referring sources and broad device categories so we can see which service pages, guides and calculators get used and where people give up. The reporting we see is aggregated. We configure our analytics to minimise what is collected, including masking or shortening IP addresses where the provider supports it, and we do not use analytics data to identify an individual visitor.

Functional

These remember choices that make the site more comfortable to use: values you entered in the savings calculator so they survive a page refresh during your visit, a dismissed banner, or an accessibility preference such as reduced motion. Blocking them does not break the site, but you may have to re-enter information more often.

This site does not use advertising, remarketing or cross-site tracking cookies. We do not build advertising profiles, we do not run retargeting pixels that follow you to other websites, and we do not sell or share the information collected here for cross-context behavioural advertising.

If that ever changes, we will update this policy before the change takes effect, name the category clearly in the table below, and provide the consent and opt-out controls that California law requires.

Rather than list individual cookie names, which change whenever a provider updates its software, the table below describes each category, what it does and how long it typically lasts.

Durations are typical maximums. A provider may set a shorter lifetime, and clearing your browsing data removes everything in the table immediately.

Your browser, not this website, holds the final say. Every major browser lets you see stored cookies, delete them, block them by site, block third party cookies entirely or clear everything when you close the window. Menu names move between versions, but the settings live in roughly these places:

• Google Chrome: open Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies and Delete browsing data.
• Safari on macOS: open Safari, then Settings, then Privacy, where you can block cookies and manage stored website data.
• Safari on iPhone or iPad: open the Settings app, then Safari, then Advanced and Website Data.
• Mozilla Firefox: open Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Cookies and Site Data and Enhanced Tracking Protection.
• Microsoft Edge: open Settings, then Cookies and site permissions, then Manage and delete cookies and site data.
• Any browser: use a private or incognito window, which clears cookies when you close it.

Cookie settings are per browser and per device, so a change made in Safari on your phone does not carry across to Chrome on your laptop. Browser help pages document the current steps for your exact version.

Phones and tablets add another layer of control at the operating system level, which applies across apps and browsers:

• iPhone and iPad: open Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Tracking, where you can stop apps requesting permission to track you.
• Android: open Settings, then Privacy or Google, then Ads, where you can delete or reset the advertising identifier.
• Both platforms: browser level controls still apply on top of these, and clearing website data in the browser removes what this site has stored.

Because we do not run advertising or tracking technologies here, these controls will not change what this site collects. They are worth knowing about for the rest of the web.

Blocking analytics and functional cookies has no effect on your ability to read the site, request a quote or reach us by phone. You will simply be invisible in our aggregate numbers, and the site will forget preferences between page loads.

Blocking strictly necessary cookies and storage is different. Depending on the browser and how strict the setting is, you may find that the contact form will not submit, that the savings calculator resets as you move between steps, that a dismissed notice keeps reappearing, or that pages behave unpredictably. If something on the site stops working, a strict cookie or script blocking setting is the first thing to check.

A small number of services are provided by other companies on our behalf, including website hosting and content delivery, an analytics provider, form and email delivery, and protection against automated form abuse. Those providers may set a cookie or read a stored value in order to do their job.

We name categories rather than vendors here on purpose, because providers change and a list of brand names in a policy goes stale quickly and misleads people. If you want to know exactly which services are running on this site today, email hello@jjenergyinc.com and we will tell you.

If a page embeds content from another platform, such as a map or a video, that platform may set its own cookies once the content loads, under its own policy. We keep embedded content to a minimum for that reason.

There is still no agreed industry standard for how a website should interpret a Do Not Track header, so this site does not respond to it in any specific way. We limit what we collect instead, and we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking technologies at all.

Where your browser or an extension sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a valid request to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information, so the practical effect is unchanged, but the signal is honoured.

We update this page when the technologies on the site change, when a provider is replaced or when the law moves. The current version is always published here with a revised last updated date and takes effect when posted.

If we ever add a category that requires your consent, we will ask for it before the technology is set, rather than adding it quietly and noting it later.
