What it is like here

Local crews, real heat, and a route out of the entry level.

We hire in the Coachella Valley and the work stays here. No crews flown in for a fortnight and gone before the inspection, and no installs handed to a subcontractor whose name you never learn. The crew flashing a roof in Indio lives twenty minutes from it and will drive past it for years, and that does more for how carefully the work gets done than any checklist we could write.

Summer here is not a figure of speech. A shingle roof at two in the afternoon in July is not a place to be, so we do not put people there. Start times move earlier from May, water and shade are part of the schedule rather than a favour, and heat illness prevention training is refreshed at the start of every season instead of after somebody goes down. If a day is genuinely unsafe to work, we move it and take the hit on the programme.

Most of our crew leads and supervisors started on a roof or in a service van, and several joined with no solar experience at all. We pay for the certifications that qualify people to move up, and when somebody is not ready we say what is missing rather than letting them guess. That is the whole promotion policy.

How the job is staffed

From May, shifts start at first light so roof work finishes before the afternoon peak
Water, shade and rest breaks are scheduled into the day rather than left to the crew to sort out
Heat illness prevention training is renewed every season, before the temperature climbs
Paid OSHA 10 and OSHA 30, plus paid study time and exam fees for NABCEP certification

Solar Installation Technician

Type: Full time
Location: Palm Desert, on-site across the Coachella Valley
Compensation: Hourly, based on experience. Overtime, tool allowance and paid certification.

You will be on residential and light commercial rooftops installing racking, modules, conduit and inverters as part of a two to four person crew. This is physical work in genuine desert heat, and we schedule and staff it accordingly: summer starts are early, water and shade are mandatory, and heat illness prevention training is renewed every season. Prior solar experience is welcome but not required. Roofing, framing, HVAC or general construction experience transfers well and we will train the rest.

Responsibilities

Install racking, flashing, modules, conduit, combiners and inverters to the approved design
Work tile, foam, shingle and standing-seam roofs to the flashing standard your supervisor sets
Photograph every roof penetration before it is sealed and covered, without exception
Keep the site clean and secure at the end of every working day
Support the crew lead during inspection and commissioning walkthroughs
Flag design or site conditions that do not match the plan rather than working around them

Requirements

Comfortable working at height on pitched roofs in high heat, all day
Able to lift and manoeuvre equipment with a partner throughout a shift
Valid California driver licence and a clean record
Reliable, punctual, and straightforward to work alongside
Basic hand and power tool competence
Bilingual English and Spanish is an advantage across our service area, not a requirement

Journeyman Electrician

Type: Full time
Location: Palm Desert, service calls across the Coachella Valley
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate with on-call differential. Company vehicle provided.

This is a mixed role covering service work, main panel and meter main upgrades, EV charger installation, storage and generator interconnection, and diagnostic troubleshooting. You will work on everything from a nuisance breaker in a mid-century Palm Springs home to a commercial transfer switch. We do our own electrical work rather than subcontracting it, which means the interesting problems stay in house and so does the responsibility for solving them properly.

Responsibilities

Perform residential and light commercial service, repair and upgrade work
Install and terminate main panels, subpanels, meter mains and load-management devices
Run NEC Article 220 load calculations and advise where a service upgrade is genuinely required
Interconnect storage systems, standby generators and automatic transfer switches
Diagnose intermittent faults properly rather than replacing parts until the symptom stops
Take a share of the on-call rotation for emergency power service

Requirements

California Journeyman Electrician certification, current
Several years of residential and light commercial field experience
Confident with load calculations and current code
Familiar with aluminium branch-circuit remediation in older housing stock
Solar, storage or generator interconnection experience is an advantage
Valid California driver licence and a clean record

Apply for the Journeyman Electrician role

Energy Consultant

Type: Full time
Location: Palm Desert, with customer visits across the Coachella Valley
Compensation: Base salary plus commission. No commission clawback on customer-cancelled projects.

You will run consultations, review utility history, build the case for a system and, when the numbers do not support one, say so. This is not a high-pressure closing role and we will not ask you to run one. We do not use same-day pricing, we do not train scripts, and we do not pay more for a larger system than the customer needs. If you have sold this way before and found it uncomfortable, this will be a different experience. If you are looking for a role where the deal is the only measure, it will not suit you.

Responsibilities

Run consultations at customer properties and over the phone across the valley
Review twelve months of utility history and the applicable SCE or IID rate schedule
Work with the analyst and engineering team to produce accurate production and savings models
Present financing options side by side with the dealer fee visible
Tell customers plainly when solar, storage or a generator is not the right answer for them
Stay with your customers through permitting, installation and switch-on rather than handing off after signature

Requirements

Consultative sales experience, ideally in home improvement, construction, HVAC or energy
Comfortable with numbers, rate schedules and explaining a payback model clearly
Genuinely willing to talk a customer out of a purchase that does not serve them
Excellent written follow-up, because most of this job happens between meetings
Valid California driver licence
Bilingual English and Spanish is a strong advantage

Training and internships

Ways into this trade that do not require experience in it.

The valley does not have a deep pool of trained solar and storage technicians, so we train our own. These are the routes in, and they are paid.

Paid apprenticeship

Run with College of the Desert since 2024, this is a paid pathway into a licensed trade for valley residents with no prior construction experience. Apprentices rotate through installation, electrical and service, with classroom hours counted toward state licensure. We hire locally rather than importing crews into the region.

Summer internships

Paid placements for students in engineering, environmental science, construction management and business. Interns work on real projects with real deadlines: load studies, permitting packages, production analysis. It is not a filing job.

Certification support for existing staff

We pay for NABCEP study time and exam fees, OSHA 10 and OSHA 30, manufacturer certifications and journeyman licence renewal. Several of our current supervisors joined with no solar experience at all and were trained here.

Transitioning trades

Roofing, HVAC, framing and general construction experience transfers to this work more directly than people expect. If you have the trade fundamentals and the willingness to work in real heat, we will teach you the rest.

Partnerships

The trades and teams we work alongside.

Most of what we do touches work that somebody else started: a roof, a remodel, a portfolio, a sale. These are the relationships that make those handovers less painful for the customer stuck in the middle of them.

Builders and general contractors

Solar-ready conduit, service sizing and array design brought in at framing rather than retrofitted afterwards. We work to your programme and your inspection schedule, and we carry our own licence and insurance.

Roofing contractors

A reciprocal referral relationship that works in both directions. We tell customers with a tired roof to replace it before mounting an array, and we need somebody good to send them to. We remove and reinstall arrays for reroofing work.

Property managers and HOAs

Portfolio-wide assessments, shared architectural submittals and consistent installation standards across a community. One submittal covering a consistent layout removes the review step that stalls individual homeowners for months.

Real estate professionals

Pre-sale system inspections, transfer documentation and honest valuations of an existing array, including the awkward cases where a system is leased or the original installer is gone. Buyers ask these questions and somebody should be able to answer them.

Commercial facility teams

Interval-data analysis and demand-charge modelling before any hardware conversation. Sometimes the first recommendation costs nothing, and we would rather make it than skip it.

Equipment manufacturers

We hold factory authorisations with several storage and generator manufacturers and are open to conversations with others whose equipment holds up to desert conditions and who stand behind it when it does not.
