Palm Desert · Coachella Valley

Solar, storage and standby power built for 115-degree summers.

JJ Energy Inc. designs, permits and installs solar, battery storage, generators and licensed electrical work for homes and businesses across the Coachella Valley. Every system is sized from your actual utility history, and if the numbers do not support the project we tell you so.

Why people trust us

Licensed, certified, and still here in year six.

A great many valley homeowners were left behind when their installer folded. We built this company to be the one that answers when that happens, including for systems we did not install.

More about JJ Energy Inc.

Our own crews, on every job

We do not subcontract installation or electrical work. The people on your roof are JJ Energy Inc. employees who are still here when you call in year six.

Designed for desert heat, not a national template

Temperature coefficients, standoff heights, conduit derating and inverter placement are specified for a climate that runs 110 degrees for weeks. A design drawn for a coastal market underperforms here.

Modelled from your bills, not satellite imagery

Every proposal starts with twelve months of your actual utility history and your current rate schedule. If the numbers do not support the project, we say so.

A photographic record of every penetration

Before anything is sealed and covered, it is photographed and filed against your job. Six years later, when a question comes up, the evidence exists.

One licence covers the whole scope

Panel upgrade, array, battery, generator and EV charger under a single C-10 and C-46 contractor. No finger-pointing between trades when something needs sorting.

Service for systems we did not install

A great many valley homeowners were left behind when their original installer folded. We adopt orphaned systems, review the warranty position and take over maintenance.

Manufacturer authorisations matter for one practical reason: when a battery or an inverter needs warranty attention, we escalate directly to the factory instead of putting you in a queue with everyone else. The full list, and what each one covers, is on the about page.

In their words

What customers say when we are not in the room.

Read the case studies
We had three companies out before JJ Energy Inc. and every one of them handed us a number within twenty minutes of walking in the door. Priya asked for a year of bills first, came back with a model that showed our summer peak was the whole problem, and recommended a smaller array with a battery instead of the enormous system the others wanted to sell us. That was a cheaper job for them and it was the right call. Our July bill went from four hundred and twelve dollars to thirty-one.

The generator paid for itself in one afternoon. We lost power for nine hours during a wind event in February and the restaurant never closed. Two blocks of Highway 111 were dark and we were serving dinner. Tomás had walked our chef through the transfer sequence at commissioning, so when it happened nobody panicked. They also spotted that our walk-in was on the wrong side of the transfer switch and fixed it before we ever needed it.

Our original installer went out of business in 2021 and we spent two years being told by everyone else that they could not touch someone else’s system. Curtis took it on, found two failed optimisers and a string that had never been commissioned properly, and got us back to full production. He also went through the manufacturer warranty and found that the modules were still covered. We are now on their annual maintenance plan and I wish we had started there.

They put a carport array across our staff parking and shifted our demand peak with a battery. Marcus pulled our fifteen-minute interval data and showed us that two pieces of equipment starting together at 2pm were setting our demand charge for the entire month. We changed the sequencing and installed storage, and the demand line on our bill dropped by a third before the panels produced a single kilowatt-hour. That was advice, not a sale.

Savings & impact

Solar still works here. It just rewards a different design than it did five years ago.

Any company still selling you the biggest array that fits on the roof is designing for rules that no longer apply. Here is what actually moves the bill in the Coachella Valley.

  • Midday, you make more than you use

Under NEM 3.0 the surplus you export at noon is credited at a fraction of what you pay to buy power back. Exporting is no longer where the value sits.

  • Evening, the rate schedule peaks

Between four and nine the grid is most stressed and your rate is highest. This is the window that sets most valley bills, summer after summer.

  • The job is to move it, not make more of it

Right-size the array to consumption, store the midday surplus, and spend it through the evening peak. That is the design the current rules reward.

The question we start with

Not how much power can this roof make, but when do you actually need it?
