We started in 2014 with one truck and an electrical licence. The solar came later, and it came because customers asked for it, not because a franchise sold us a territory.
Who we are
JJ Energy Inc. is a family-run clean energy and electrical contractor based in Palm Desert. We design, permit, install and service solar arrays, battery storage, standby generators, EV charging and the licensed electrical work that makes all of it possible, for homes and businesses across the Coachella Valley.
The order matters. We were electricians first. That is why we open your panel before we quote your roof, why a load calculation happens before anyone talks about a service upgrade, and why the whole scope sits under one C-10 and C-46 licence rather than being split across a sales office and whichever subcontractor was available that week.
We are not the largest company in the valley and we are not trying to be. We turn down work that does not make sense for the customer, we do not run same-day pricing, and we take on systems other companies abandoned. That approach costs us some jobs. It is also why our service calls are mostly from people who bought from us years ago.
To make clean, reliable power the obvious choice for valley properties by being straight with people about what it costs, what it saves and what it will not do. We would rather lose a sale than oversize a system, because the system outlives the sale by twenty-five years and we are the ones who have to answer for it.
A Coachella Valley where the hottest afternoon of the year is not a risk to anyone, where evening peak demand is met from storage rather than the dirtiest generation on the grid, and where the people doing this work were hired and trained here rather than bussed in for a season.
Founding story
In 2016 a neighbour in Indio showed Javier a contract for a rooftop array that had been sized entirely from satellite imagery. Nobody had visited the property. Nobody had opened the panel. The system never produced what the paperwork promised, and by the time that became obvious the company had stopped answering.
Javier had been doing electrical work across Riverside County for eleven years by then. He took the C-46 exam rather than refer that kind of work out again, and the rule the company still runs on was set that year: nothing gets quoted that has not been looked at, and nothing gets covered up that has not been photographed.
Joanna joined full time in 2018 and brought permitting and interconnection in house, which is the unglamorous half of this business and the half that decides whether a project takes six weeks or six months.
Javier leaves a general contractor to take electrical work on his own, running service calls out of a single truck across Indio and La Quinta.
A repeat electrical customer in Palm Desert asks for a rooftop system. Javier takes the C-46 exam rather than hand the job to someone else.

Javier spent eleven years as a field electrician across Riverside County before founding JJ Energy Inc. He started the company after watching a neighbour in Indio pay for a system that had been sized from satellite imagery and never produced what the contract promised. He still reviews every commercial design personally and holds the company C-10 and C-46 licenses.

Joanna built the permitting and interconnection process that lets JJ Energy Inc. close out most residential projects inside forty-five days. She came from construction project management, and her rule that no crew leaves a site without a photographic record of every roof penetration has settled more warranty questions than any document the company keeps.

He is the reason JJ Energy Inc. quotes what a battery will actually carry in a 115-degree afternoon rather than what the brochure implies, and he runs the load study on every backup project before a quote is issued.

Elena runs the residential crews and has personally supervised more than six hundred rooftop installations across the valley. She trains every new installer on tile work, which is where most desert roof leaks begin.

Manufacturer authorisation matters for one practical reason. When a battery or inverter needs warranty attention we escalate to the factory directly instead of joining the queue behind everyone else.
Certification
The North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners credential is the industry standard for photovoltaic installers. Our lead installers hold it and recertify on schedule.

Our electrical work is performed under our own state contractor license. We do not subcontract wiring to a third party you never meet.

How we work
The part most companies skip is telling you where your permit application actually stands. We report on it weekly rather than waiting to be chased.
We look at twelve months of usage, your rate schedule and what you actually want the system to do. Half an hour, at your property or over a call. No charge and no obligation.
A technician measures the roof, inspects the panel, checks shading through the day and photographs the attic and conduit routes. This is where problems get found, before they are priced as change orders.
You receive a production model, a savings projection tied to your rate schedule, the equipment list with model numbers, financing options side by side, and a fixed price.
We file with your building department and your utility, and track both to approval. You are told where the application stands every week rather than when you chase it.
Most residential systems are installed in one to three days by our own crew. Every penetration is photographed. The site is left clean each evening.
We meet the inspector, close the permit and follow the utility through to permission to operate. Then we commission the system with you and show you the monitoring.
Annual maintenance, monitoring alerts, warranty administration and a phone number that reaches the company that did the work. This is the part that outlasts the sale.
